Wow! I just went through and read all of these comments. Like the one girl said, for the longest time I thought I was the only Viven Leigh fan out there. It's nice to see that I'm not. I have been an admirer of Vivian Leigh since l saw Gone with the Wind when l was nine years old, and l remember dressing up in a big gown and standing on a mound of earth in my parent's garden , pretending to be Scarlett standing over Tara .............

Since that moment l have read two wonderful books about the great lady. Both books are very informative and both are different in their style.

I recommend the following to read:

Vivian Leigh - A biography by Anne Edwards Vivian - The life of Vivian Leigh by Alexander Walker.

Vivian Leigh may have suffered poor mental health but she will always remain the greatest lady on the big screen and the first lady on the stage!!!!

The biographies that l have read have led me to read about the greatest love of her life apart from acting,Laurance Olivier. He was and still is a acting legend! What a great partnership they were.

Vivian always kept a photograph of Larry next to her bed and lived in awe of him, she very much adored and loved him and she remained the life of his life!

I also loved reading about her dog Poo Jones. What great stories they were.

I would loved to have been a guest at Notley Abbey or even a fly on the wall at Tickerage, what a great hostess she truly was .......

A truly marvellous actress, perhaps not taken as seriously in her time due to her unparalleled beauty. So sad that genius of her type in this case possibly led to mental illness. This is a very nice web site. I did not realize that Vivien Leigh still has so many fans. I went to St Pauls School in Darjeeling and she was born on our campus. In fact the building still stands and it is used to house some of the teaching staff. So if any of you fans ever visit Darjeeling you must go to St Pauls School. I am almost 34 years old and have been a devoted Vivien Leigh-admirer for almost 20 years. Over the years I have amassed a considerable collection of memorabilia (magazines, theatre programmes, posters, photos, etc.).

To me, the attraction about her is not solely her astounding beauty. I have never known or heard about any person, film star or not, whose life story was as extraordinary. Her life contained all the ingredients that can only be found elsewhere by adding character traits and events from several personalities' lives. A remarkable site dedicated to a remarkable actress. Although of course her performance in GONE WITH THE WIND was brilliant, stunning and fully deserving of her Oscar, I myself consider her performance in A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE as the greatest performance I have ever seen recorded on film. It is just an incredible tour de force and it never fails to move me to the depth of my being whenever I watch it. Many years ago when I was still a schoolboy, I was in the West End of London and happened to see Vivien Leigh! I just had to go up and speak to her, and she was so charming and kind as I stammered out how much I admired her work. I didn't have anything that she could sign for me, so she gave me her card and told me to write her, which I did, and she subsequently sent me a personalised signed photo of herself which I have to this day in a silver frame on my mantel shelf! How many other "stars" would go to such lengths to please a fan? I (like one of the other guest book entries) also think her performance in CAESAR AND CLEOPATRA has never had the praise it deserves. It is fascinating to watch her go from nervous child to a cool and calculating Queen and of course she interpreted Shaw's dialogue superbly. Also, ANNA KARENINA... But, hey, I mustn't hog too much space. Suffice to say she is my favourite actress of all time who will always have a special place in my heart and memory.

I've enjoyed your website very much. However, I've found one mistake. It is a fact, and you can check it out, it took Margaret Mitchell ten years to write GWTW, but when it went to the publishers in '35, it was not yet finished.

I'm an actress and Vivien Leigh is my favorite actress of all time. I have her biography and I reread it all the time. I adored her passion for acting , Olivier and life. Olivier is my favorite actor of all time. The funny thing is I didn't know they were married til I read their biographys. I have learned so much about acting due to these performers. In 1996, I saw Gone With The Wind for the first time at an old time theater in Wichita, Kansas. My friend and I stood outside in a line that stretched two city blocks, only to be turned away because there were no more seats. The next day we arrived early and got front row balcony seats in a theater that my mom used to frequent as a child. The seats were small and made out of wood, and the theater was musky and old smelling. It smelled just like my grandmother attic. Soon, the huge red drapes were peeled apart by hand and Gone With The Wind began. It was the most incrediable experince that I can remember. In today's day and age of violent movies and computer technology can make a human fly without wings, I find the best movies are the ones from yesterday, picture shows my grandmother watched as a teenager. These movies are the true art of entertaining, they show glamour and sex appeal in decent and beautiful ways. I am 27 years old and if anyone ask who my faviort movie stars are, it wouldn't be Brad Pitt or Julia Roberts...Though they are beautiful and talented in their own right, my faviort stars are those depicted in black and white. Grace Kelly, Cary Grant, Vivian Leigh...Full of style and class.

I first saw Vivien in Gone with the Wind with a dear friend about 11 years ago. I fell in love with this film and the acting style of Miss Leigh. She was a truly beautiful woman and her acting was flawless. I had to see what else she had done, Gable also. I really liked 'Caesar and Cleopatra' and 'Waterloo Bridge'. Ever since I watched "Gone with the wind", I've had my mind on the actress who played Scarlet O'Hare. I made sure I read the credits to find out her name and have kept it to myself. The other day In Literature we watched a film called "A street car named desire" and I saw her name "Vivien Leigh", I kept telling everyone in my class that she was a fabulous actress, but everyone disliked her, no one see's the acting skills no more just the characters. I found this site to be very informative. However, I have a problem with the very distasteful photos from Vanity Fair shown in the 'Various Photos' gallery.
